A Retrospective of Global Navigation Satellite System Ionospheric Irregularities Monitoring Networks in Brazil

چکیده
The use of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for air and terrestrial navigation many applications is increasing in the last decades. However, Earth’s ionosphere causes GNSS signal delay due to total electron content (TEC) scintillation phase amplitude. This can give rise deleterious effects positioning. So, it important assess over signal. To achieve this goal, necessary have a large spatial temporal coverage data from different sounders, being receivers great importance their global availability. In work, we present retrospective monitoring networks Brazil characteristics. As RBMC network managed by IBGE provides TEC as rate index (ROTI) well correlated with ionospheric irregularities, also description. These provide regions scarcity monitors. description Ionospheric Scintillation Monitoring Receivers (ISMR) Query Tool, that web software has been supporting research on ISMR data, presented.

Wetland monitoring with Global Navigation Satellite System reflectometry
Information about wetland dynamics remains a major missing gap in characterizing, understanding, and projecting changes in atmospheric methane and terrestrial water storage. A review of current satellite methods to delineate and monitor wetland change shows some recent advances, but much improved sensing technologies are still needed for wetland mapping, not only to provide more accurate global...
متن کاملThe climatology of ionospheric plasma bubbles and irregularities over Brazil
In this paper, we examine ionospheric plasma depletions (or bubbles) and irregularities observed by photometers and a ground-based receiver of the global positioning system (GPS) both located in Brazil, South America. A simultaneous observation reveals that when the ionospheric plasma becomes depleted, the GPS total electron content decreases and the associated phase fluctuations grow. Statisti...
متن کاملAnalyses of Integrity Monitoring Techniques for a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS-2)
A GNSS-2 has to overcome the basic deficiencies, i.e. the lack of integrity, availability, continuity and accuracy in the Signal-In-Space (SIS), of present satellite navigation systems as the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS). Thus, the European contribution to GNSS-2 (Galileo) with the current baseline of reusing the European Geos...
متن کاملRobust Detection of Ionospheric Irregularities
The Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) will provide real-time differential GPS corrections and integrity information for aircraft navigation use. The most stringent application of this system will be precision approach, where the system guides the aircraft to within a few hundred feet of the ground. Precision approach operations require the use of differential ionospheric corrections. WAAS mu...
متن کاملGlobal navigation satellite systems
Global positioning systems first became available for private use in 1995. Since the introduction of NAVSTAR-GPS (Navigation System with Time and Ranging–Global Positioning System) and GLONASS (Globaluaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema, Global Navigation Satellite System), such systems have quickly become indispensable in a wide range of applications. Above all, GPS is used today by a lar...
